Barren County Recognized for Beautify the Bluegrass Award

A little Christmas cheer has gone a long way in Barren County.

The county has been recognized through the Beautify the Bluegrass program for the festive transformation of the Glasgow Square during last year’s Christmas season. The project was led by Beautify Barren County, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the natural beauty of our community.

Beautify Barren County’s mission is to unite residents, businesses, and community leaders in a shared effort to make lasting improvements to our home. With a focus on sustainability, beautification, and community engagement, the organization is committed to building a brighter, more beautiful future for all Barren County residents.

Their efforts around Christmas brought that mission to life in a joyful and visible way. The group, along with volunteers, city staff, and local businesses, helped decorate the Glasgow Square, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for families and visitors alike.

The Beautify the Bluegrass initiative, sponsored by Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, Kentucky Living, and Governor Andy Beshear, celebrates community projects across the Commonwealth that reflect local pride and creativity. In their recognition, officials praised Barren County’s project for capturing the spirit of teamwork and civic pride that defines Kentucky communities.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Beautify Barren County team and helped make our downtown sparkle with light and joy. Together, we’re showing what’s possible when a community comes together to take pride in its home.
